Preparation for Courses

Comprehensive DentaSpa 1:
Botox and Fillers Course Preparation:
Saturday we will be holding the lecture component of the program from 9am-5pm. During the morning we will be covering the comprehensive dermal fillers lecture followed by video demos. We will break for lunch and hold the comprehensive Botox lecture in the afternoon also followed by a video demos.

Sunday will be all day hands-on and this will be the only day you will need to bring your patient(s). All participants will be doing several Botox and dermal filler treatments. Depending on the patient, procedures can be done on one person or you may need 2 patients. All patients will fill out and sign Botox and dermal filler consents forms in addition to medical history forms prior to procedures. When selecting your model patient or patients, this is what you are looking for:

For Dermal Filler Clinical: Someone who would like to treat their nasolabial folds (lines from the corner of the mouth to the corner of the nose), marionette lines (lines from the corner of the lips that go down the face toward the jaw line), and the corners of the lips to bring up smile line. Lip augmentation may also be done on a patient that would like to enhance the fullness of their lips. The best candidates are patients with light to moderate lines because you will more likely get a full correction.

For Botox Clinical: Someone who would like to treat forehead lines (lines made when patient raises their eyebrows to make a surprised expression), frown lines (vertical lines between the eyebrows know as glabellar lines) formed when the patient makes a mad expression and/or crow's feet (wrinkles around the corner of the eyes caused from squinting). If a patient has a gummy smile, we will also be treating him/her with Botox.

We will be sending you pre treatment instructions that you need to provide to your patients at least 48 hours prior to the day of treatment. If we are providing a patient for you, we will be providing your patient this information. We will also be providing this information during the course, however, it is important they also get it prior in preparation as may patients are on daily medications and/or supplements that may make them NOT ideal patients for injections. Patients who bruise easily because of medications that act as blood thinners or other disease processes may not be good candidates.

Even though treatments with Botox and dermal fillers are minimally invasive procedures, patients should know bruising and swelling is normal post treatment. Model patients should not have any important work or personal events coming up within two weeks of treatment.

For the learning benefit of all participants, please make sure and ONLY bring your patient(s) on the second course day (Sunday) for the clinical. Your patients should be there at 8:30 a.m. and prepare to be there for the day. Please let me know with at least a 2 week notice if you would like me to find you a volunteer model patient who qualifies for these procedures and I will notify them on times to be there.

If you wish to bring a staff to take the course with you on both days, you can bring only person and there is a $425 staff registration fee. Please let me know so I can make proper food and space arrangements.

Botox units for clinical, lecture supplies, breakfast and lunch (both days) will be provided as part of your registration. Please be sure to bring your lab coat or scrubs for Sunday clinical. Also please let me know in advance if you have any special food requirements such as allergies or vegetarians.

Additional Costs
Unlike other courses, DentaSpa provides Botox injections for clinical. Students may choose to buy additional units for practice at cost ($5.50 per unit). However that is optional because the Botox units included with registration are sufficient to cover all the areas we are doing during the clinical. Students will need to purchase one box of Juvederm for the class clinical, which comes with 2 syringes at $532. A box is recommended to optimize learning but you can opt to do just one syringe. Price per syringe is $250-$295 per syringe of dermal filler depending on brand requested. Attendees may bring their own products but must show proof that they are unopened, original, authentic and purchased in the USA.
